14th Annual Foundation Golf Tournament Now In The Books

Franklin, MA – Once again, the always challenging Franklin Country Club played host to the Armenian Youth Foundation’s annual golf tournament fundraiser. The private course is a perennial favorite among Armenian golfers given its views of Camp Haiastan, a longtime beneficiary of the Foundation’s grant awards. “The golf tournament has become an important part of the Foundation’s annual fundraising efforts,” said Foundation Chairman, Stepan Kanarian. “Strong support from individuals and corporations alike were critical to our success. This year there were more than fifty sponsors and donors”. Winners were recognized in three divisions – Gross, Net, and Callaway. The Gross Division winner was Greg Marderosian with a 70, followed by Craig Avedilian with an 82. Low Net winner in the Handicap Division was John Zedros with a 70, followed by Zak Asatrian with a 71. “The revenue from the tournament should ensure another strong year of grant awards while taking the fund over $600,000”, said Kanarian.Founded in 1973, the Armenian Youth Foundation, Inc. is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization dedicated to offering financial support to programs of cultural, educational and/or athletic significance benefiting Armenian youth in America.Since its inception, the Board has functioned using a Capital Fund operating policy in which all tax-deductible donations received are preserved in the Fund while the invested earnings provide for all grant awards and operating expenses. While the Fund currently stands at over $600,000, it has returned over $400,000 in grants to worthwhile organizations.
